When you buy my clothes I want you to know where they came from, the process, and how they were made. I want you to see your present self in them. I want you to see your future self in them. I want you to imaging yout inner child meeting you and thinking, “I want to be just like them when I grow up.”I want you to feel seen, loved, and appreciated when you put on these clothes and hang up these pieces of art. You are an essential part of this art coming to life.
About the Artist
Hello! My name is Paige Perkins and I am an interdisciplinary artist with a concentration in fashion design. I am a 2024 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design. My work focuses on the exploration of Black culture and stories through apparel, photography and film. I've exhibited work in various fashion venues and exhibitions including Richmond Fashion Week and the Hirshhorn Museum. As a Black person I know that Black culture is incredibly rich in history, strength, resiliency, nuance, and joy that deserves to be seen and shared in its fullness. Because of this, I desire to build community and nurture conversations amongst people which foster individual and collective learning and growth allowing everyone to have deeper understanding and compassion for one another through my work.
